Translational Research, Principal Scientist / Associate Director


Kyn Therapeutics, an emerging leader in cancer and cancer immuno-therapy, is seeking a highly talented, diversely experienced, and self-motivated translational scientist to join an innovative, scientifically driven and fast paced team focused on developing breakthrough cancer therapies. This individual will be accountable for establishing and executing translational research strategies for late discovery and development stage programs.

This will include 1) identify informative pharmacodynamics biomarkers for clinical use, 2) develop indication selection strategies and patient selection biomarkers, 3) identify rational therapeutic combinations, and 4) execute clinical biomarker activities. This individual will work closely with both internal and external discovery scientists and clinical team members.


  • Report to VP, Translational Research and Early Development
  • Create and execute clinical translational research strategies for late discovery and development stage programs to inform indication and patient selections
  • Design and execute biomarker research to identify novel pharmacodynamic and patient selection biomarkers, develop biomarker assays
  • Assures that state of the art methods are applied to biomarker development and patient selection strategies
  • Oversee clinical assay development / validation, and execute clinical biomarker characterization to enable clear go/no-go decision points and proof of concept in early clinical development
  • Collaborate closely with internal discovery scientists and clinical teams
  • Leverage a network of external scientific advisors and consultants to execute translational research activities covering preclinical and clinical programs


  • PhD in a field of biology
  • A senior researcher with 8+ years of relevant drug discovery and development experience
  • Experience in immuno-oncology clinical biomarker assays
  • Experience and knowledge in forward and reverse translational research, including biomarker identification
  • Familiarity with the regulatory requirements of clinical biomarker assays, and current oncology clinical landscape
  • Strong interpersonal skills, leadership abilities, and oral and written communication; working well as part of a team
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic skills
